Profile

After graduating the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Tokyo, he entered to the graduate school of the same department of the same university in 1988. He received Ph.D from the Graduate School of Engineering of the University of Tokyo in 1993 with the thesis entitled "A study on relationship between highway alignment and drivers' behaviour".
After joining to Transportation Research Laboratory of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. from 1993 to 1995, he moved to Tokyo Metropolitan University and promoted to Professor in 2007.
He moved to current position in 2011 and assigned to Advanced Mobility Research Center.
His major research field is Traffic Engineering, especially Traffic Management and Control. Traffic Signal Control, Highway Capacity, Highway Geometric Design and Environmental Impact Assessment of Traffic Operation are the main topics of his research.
He is a member of International Program Committee of ITS World Congress, and served as the chair of the committee for the congress in 2013, Tokyo.
