SIP第2期自動運転(システムとサービスの拡張)は、今後も国際的ネットワークの拡大を目指し活動を進めて参ります。

  • Session: Regional Activities

    As deployment of automated driving technologies is getting closer to a reality, more attention is paid to systematic approaches to create sufficient environment for automated vehicles including legal and regulatory framework, business models, integrated systems with public transportation and logistics, public acceptance, and ethical issues.
    Regional and national leaders will address challenges they are facing and share their policy directions and experiences with the audience.
  • Session: FOTs and Next Generation Transport

    There are many barriers to be broken in order to realize the introduction of Automated Driving Vehicles into the actual transportation society. Various FOTs are being implemented to solve various issues, including technical issues, legal issues, and public acceptance issues.
    This session will report on activities of FOTs & Next Generation Transport taking place around the world, and share how to solve the problem, what is the remaining problem, and what theme should be worked together. It should be also discussed how we can create new mobility ecosystem as sustainable city function beyond FOTs.
  • Session: Human Factors

    Majority of automated driving levels still require a human to fulfil specific tasks which can be different from the current driving tasks. Understanding limitations of human ability for those new tasks and development of supportive HMIs form a foundation for human-centered design of safe automated vehicles. Although the automation technology is advancing at a very fast pace, a significant part of the human factor issues remains unknown and unsolved. Over the last several years, the scope of human factors has been expanded from in-vehicle interaction to include external interaction with other road users. This imposed the human factors researchers and developers a new challenge for traffic harmonization and public acceptance as well as safety.
    This session will exchange findings and challenges in the field of human factors on the international level.
  • Session: Cybersecurity including Software Update Management System

    As wireless communications are coming to play a more important role in vehicles with advances in automated driving technologies, the risks presented by cracking and black-hat hacking have to be considered more carefully from the perspective of vehicle cybersecurity.
    In SAE, J3061 "Cyber security Guidebook for Cyber Physical Vehicle Systems" announced best practice. ISO / SAE 21434 "Road Vehicles - Cybersecurity engineering" is also about to be issued in 2020 as a joint activity of SAE and ISO. These guideline and standard focus on the cyber security engineering process and the management. In contrast, SIP-adus aims to establish cybersecurity evaluation guideline that OEMs and suppliers can refer it when they evaluate the vehicles simulating the attacks.
    This session will report the status of cybersecurity activity for connected and automated vehicle by the experts of automotive industry, IT industry, and academia in each region. The importance to cooperate with each industry and academia will also be discussed to realize secured cybersecurity for connected and automated vehicle.
  • Session: Safety Assurance

    In order to introduce automated driving systems into the market, socially acceptable and technically sound safety assurance methodologies need to be established. Just driving on 10 billion miles road is neither feasible nor transparent. The innovative methodology needs to be established.
    Under the umbrella of WP29 GRVA, the informal working group VMAD, which stands for validation methodology for automated driving, is organized. In the working group the authorities and experts are working hard to establish the united nation regulation to certificate the safety performance of ADV. At the same time, the many industry consortiums, government funding projects, and global standard activities are trying to establish state of the art innovative AD performance evaluation methodology and criteria.
    In this session, the global experts who are leading the project share the progress and figure out what the residual challenges, which needs the consolidation of global experts’ efforts. Hopefully the workshop comes up with the framework what the global experts work together and how to consolidate the outcome in order to achieve the goal.
  • Session: Dynamic Map

    SIP-adus had contributed to realize the Dynamic Map from the beginning of the project. The integration of the static map and dynamic data is also under discussion fiercely in Europe and USA. Dynamic contents such as signal information, merging/ETC gate support information and lane-level traffic information are now developing. Some of the map companies are developing the dynamic maps with industry standards. International harmonization is a key issue in the area. Thus, experts focus on standardization activities in ISO, OADF and other standard organization.
    In this session, the status of dynamic maps which is a key technology for the automated driving with FOTs in each region will be reported and the possibility for the next generation of the mapping platform will be widely discussed.
  • Session: Connected Vehicle

    FOTs of automated driving and safety driving support utilizing communication technologies are being conducted in Europe, USA, and Japan. Governments and industries are increasingly active in each region in terms of communication technology in anticipation of this practical application.
    This session will report on the movement of the connected vehicles to realize cooperative automated driving from Europe, USA, and Japan. Experts from governments and industries will share various activities related to communication technologies for automated driving. From Japan it will be presented that the activities of SIP-adus on the FOTs will be implemented.
